That's the Estoque concept, right?
Ugh. Why haven't they built this yet? I wouldn't even mind if it was put on an RS7 chassis. I NEED IT.

Did the engine get converted to diesel and the transmission converted to a 6MT?

That would make sense since the Gallardo replacement is going to be an Audi R8 with a Lambo bodykit ;)

That's pretty hilarious since the R8 is a Gallardo with an Audi bodykit :D

I know... It's come full circle! After reading every bit of Gallardo/R8 news I could get my hands on this is my understanding of the development history (I could be wrong as I've pieced together bits and pieces of info over a long period of time, and not always from the best sources):
*Gallardo chassis is developed by the Italians. Ze Germans provide the 2.5L straight engine that either they, the Italians, or both turn into a 5.0L V10.
*Ze Germans develop a mostly new Audi chassis for the R8 that shares a minimal amount of its design with the Gallardo chassis. Probably not necessary to do that, but hey they dominate Le Mans so they wanted to do it themselves. The initial R8 engine is sourced from an Audi RS car (the 4.2L V8).
*Audi get actively involved with (or takes over?) the V10 engine development program and install the revised engine in the R8. VAG forces Audi to use muted headers and exhaust and lets Lamborghini make the engine sound as good as possible to ensure customers have a reason to shell out more money for the Gallardo.
*Audi modifies the DSG transmission to make it work with a mid-engine car and retrofit it into the current R8.
*Audi provides the Italians with a revised chassis and the DSG. Lamborghini designs the body. VAG decides how big the power bumps will be for each car and plans the release dates to maximize profit.
